Meet the VOICES Committee
The Knoxville Family Justice Center's VOICES Committee is a group of dedicated survivors who work to improve the experience of survivors seeking help for domestic violence through advocacy, education, community outreach, and sharing of their own perspectives.
Membership is open to all survivors who are no longer in a relationship with their abuser and are not currently undergoing trial or court proceedings related to the abuse and/or separation from the abusive partner. All applicants will be interviewed to ensure there are no safety concerns and they are ready to actively participate.
The Committee meets monthly.

How the VOICES Committee Can Help You
Sharing their Stories – VOICES Committee members can provide personal accounts of their experiences to educate the community about the realities of domestic violence and sexual assault and where to find help. Members are available for media interviews, public speaking events, educational workshops, fundraising efforts, and more.
Provide Support to Survivors – The VOICES Committee connects survivors and its members can be utilized to help other survivors as they navigate through their process. Some Committee members are available to provide personal encouragement and support to those coming through the Family Justice Center.
Provide Guidance – VOICES Committee members can provide unique perspectives about the services being provided at the Family Justice Center and its partners.
Advocacy – As directly-effected individuals, VOICES Committee members are in ideal positions to advocate for more support of the Family Justice Center and its partner organizations.
